Scientists identified a protein in the blood that could predict Alzheimer’s :

British scientists have identified 10 blood proteins that can be used to predict Alzheimer's disease and described the discovery as an important step toward developing a test for a disease that damages brain cells.

The scientists said such a test could be used initially to select patients for clinical trials for experimental treatment being developed to try to stop Alzheimer's disease and may someday be used in doctors' clinics.

Alzheimer's starts in the brain several years before the discovery, and many of our therapeutic trials fail because patients receiving the drugs have their brain already very damaged," said Simon Lavston, a professor at Oxford University, who led the study at King's College in London.
